Taiwan’s largest solar power plant opens in Tainan

The largest single land-based solar power plant in Taiwan commenced operation March 31 in the southern city of Tainan, spotlighting the government’s commitment to achieving sustainable development through green energy.

During the opening ceremony, Premier Su Tseng-chang said the newly inaugurated plant is a testament to the country’s technological prowess. The total amount of electricity produced at the country’s renewable energy sites is now capable of exceeding the amount created by three nuclear power generators, he added.
 
According to state-run Taiwan Power Co., the plant is expected to generate 200 million kilowatt-hours of green electricity every year, providing enough power to meet the needs of more than 50,000 households.
