The British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (BCCT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Stokes-Green as the new Chief Executive Officer of the BCCT. Mr. Stokes-Green will succeed Mr. Steven Parker who announced earlier this year that he would step down at the end of June. Mr. Stokes-Green’s first day at the helm will be today.

The Board of Chamber’s Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Parker sincerely for the dedication and passion he has consistently brought to the BCCT over his more than six years as CEO. Under Mr. Parker’s leadership, the BCCT has gone from strength to strength with impressive annual membership growth in each and every year of his tenure.

Mr. Stokes-Green shared, “I'm delighted to be joining the team at the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, and looking forward to starting the next chapter in its already successful history. We have an extremely accomplished team, with highly supportive Board members, that has, under Steven Parker's leadership, grown the Chamber significantly over the past 6 years. Steve and the team expanded the Chamber's reach, resources and capabilities during that period, and I'm grateful to be taking over such a robust, efficient organisation.

We're living in truly transformative times, facing a post-Brexit world, COVID-19, and Global Climate Change. Both the UK and Taiwan have a proven history of rising to challenges, adapting, and providing innovative solutions to thrive. As the proud father of two daughters with British and Taiwanese nationality, I have strong personal ties with both Britain and Taiwan, and a vested interest in promoting their commercial success along with better and more sustainable business practices - two of the Chamber's core missions. BCCT's co-location, and strong ties with the British Office, give it a unique ability to interface directly in facilitating government engagement - another of our core goals in support of our membership base. I'm excited to continue forging even stronger ties with John Dennis and the team at the Department for International Trade in furthering government engagement efforts on behalf of our members.

Over the coming weeks, I'll be talking with as many members of our community as possible, listening to their views and learning how the Chamber can further support their interests, and promote better business within, and between, the UK and Taiwan.

I look forward to working with you all and getting to know you better!”

Mr. Stokes-Green brings with him a wealth of experience across multiple industries, with the majority of his career spent in Oil & Gas. He has a strong commercial and operational track record and has successfully built and led teams in a number of countries. Being a British national and a long-term resident of Taiwan, his knowledge of the local business landscape will serve him well in this role.
