The Young Professionals (YP) Workshops organised by the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei (BCCTaipei) and the YP Committee are aimed at providing training and networking opportunities for young talent in member companies, UK alumni, and local talent. These workshops not only facilitate connections with potential future leaders but also empower participants in both their careers and personal lives.
Our community is committed to developing talent across a wide range of diversity categories. By nurturing young talent, the BCCTaipei aims to support healthy talent pipelines and leadership development within our community, creating future business leaders in Taipei.

Explore the AI Industry with Sega, Co-Founder and CEO of iKala
On 26 April, The Young Professionals Committee hosted its "Meet the CEO" workshop, offering young talents a unique opportunity to interact directly with industry leaders. The session featured Sega Cheng, co-founder, and CEO of iKala, a prominent AI company in Taiwan renowned for its innovative AI transformation solutions.
Throughout the workshop, participants delved into iKala’s growth strategies, exploring the potential of AI-driven cloud services and MarTech solutions to enhance business operations and elevate customer engagement. Sega also shared invaluable insights from his entrepreneurial journey, providing guidance on navigating challenges and achieving success in today’s dynamic landscape.

Mastering the Latest AI Trends that Shape the World
On 30 May, the BCCTaipei Young Professionals hosted an enlightening workshop featuring William Wong, Developer Relations Manager at NVIDIA, who shared his expertise on AI and Digital Transformation.This event provided an excellent opportunity for over 50 young professionals to gain valuable insights directly from an industry leader.
William highlighted the role of Developer Relations in aligning product development with market demands and discussed shifting from GPU to CPU usage to reduce costs and create efficient AI models for edge computing. The session also covered AI applications in pharmaceuticals and manufacturing, emphasizing NVIDIA's commitment to driving digitalization in Taiwan through ecosystem partnerships and AI innovation.

Unlocking the Future of Solar Energy and Energy Management -
A Talk by Mindi Wang, Head of Micro Electricity
On 27 June, the BCCTaipei Young Professionals committee invited Mindi Wang, Chairman and CEO of Micro Electricity, to share his expertise. This event allowed young talents to learn about the future of solar energy and energy management. Mindi highlighted Micro Electricity's journey, managing over 150 rooftop and 250 ground-based power stations with a total capacity of 500MW in Taiwan, showcasing significant renewable energy projects and their impact.
He discussed the integration of solar energy with agriculture and aquaculture, demonstrating unique synergies and a commitment to sustainability. Mindi also covered using weather data from the Himawari 8 satellite and ground data to predict solar power generation accurately. Additionally, he explored the potential of a digital power network driven by big data and predictive algorithms, emphasising the importance of data transparency for effective decision-making.

Unlock Your Unlimited Power: Activate Your Brain for
Advanced Cognitive Functions
On 27 July, we held an engaging workshop titled "Unlock Your Unlimited Power: Activate Your Brain for Advanced Cognitive Functions." The event attracted many participants who were eager to learn how to boost their cognitive abilities.
The session kicked off with an overview of cognitive functions, stressing the importance of enhancing brain activity for both personal and career growth. Attendees discovered various methods to stimulate and optimise their brain functions, such as mindfulness practices, mental exercises, and techniques to improve daily focus. The workshop wrapped up with a Q&A session, where participants could ask questions and receive tailored advice from the experts.

All of the events were held at our members' venue, and we've had close to 100 registrations for our YP Workshops 2022. While our in-person events offered finger foods and drinks, we're doing our best to create an engaging virtual experience for our attendees.
Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we've only been able to host three events to date. However, we're optimistic that as the situation improves, more young professionals will become involved with BCCTaipei YP events.
The workshops is aimed at individuals ranging from British universities’ newest alumni to early-career professionals up to the age of 35. The annual membership fee is NTD1000 which includes two complimentary ($500) Young Professional event tickets and after that events will be at the member price.
Social Gathering and Art in the Digital Age (25-March)
Ivan Liu, founder of Legacy Lab International and member of our Young Professional Committee, who shared his insights on art technology in the digital age. During this event, attendees also had the opportunity to network with other young professionals from diverse industries.
Ivan discussed how art in the 21st century has evolved in numerous new directions, incorporating robots, AI, light installations, bioart, drones, VR/AR, and NFTs, among other cutting-edge technologies. He also explained how combining new media with aesthetics can push the boundaries of creativity in exciting ways across various aspects of life.

Business Development Strategy in a Changing Environment (29-July)
In a world that is constantly changing, it is crucial to be able to adapt and analyse trends in order to stay ahead. The facilitator of the workshop, Ben, used a systematic thinking model tool to guide the audience through the process of designing their own development strategies. The aim of the workshop was to help attendees establish a relevant strategy for their business and personal growth, and ultimately, to have an outstanding position in the future.

Wine Tasting Etiquette & Technique (4-November)
Unwined Bar & Vinter, where we delved deep into the world of wine. Led by two knowledgeable WSET certified wine experts, the workshop covered a range of topics including famous wine varieties and regions, serving temperatures, glassware, decanting, food pairings, and much more.
Attendees had the opportunity to taste three different types of wine - white, red, and sparkling - and enjoy cheese and cold-cut platters served buffet style. In addition, they received a corkscrew from Taiwan Wine Academy as a memento of the event.

Building Interpersonal Relationships for Business and Personal Life
This event taught attendees how to improve their personal presentation and communication skills. Attendees learned about essential areas such as tailored fit, body proportion, fabric colour, fabric material, and body shape modification. They also discussed building deeper connections in three stages to establish in-depth relationships. The final segment focused on understanding a person's mindset, which was the most critical part of making a connection to build a personal relationship.

Start your Business in Food and Beverage in KOR Taipei
Our speakers discussed various challenges and risks involved in opening a restaurant or bar, as well as the rewards that come with running a successful establishment. Social Media Impact for Career Development
We were honoured to have Christian Rose-Day, GREAT Marketing Manager for APAC at Department for International Trade, and Alexandra Pao, Managing Director at Edelman Public Relations, share their expertise with us.

Let's talk about Social Enterprise
The webinar aimed to shed light on the importance of the social enterprise sector during COVID lockdowns and financial difficulties.

Play Your Way To Financial Freedom!
This event utilised board game to kickstarts participants' financial freedom!
During the event, we explored the importance of having control over your finances, and how this requires time and discipline. We emphasised that financial freedom doesn't mean you're "free" of the responsibility of handling your money, but rather that it's about finding financial security and enjoying life free from stress.
We were delighted to host a bilingual workshop, conducted in both English and Chinese, and to collaborate with the German Trade Office Taipei (AHK) to bring this event to our community.
