St. Andrew's Ball

St. Andrew's Ball

Since 2006, the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei has been organising the St. Andrew's Ball, a major event on Taipei's annual social calendar that honours Scotland's patron saint and attracts a large gathering of people every year from the local and international community including business and government leaders. It has earned a reputation as the best Ball in Taiwan, and arguably one of the best in the region.

A Night of Scottish Splendour: St. Andrew’s Ball 2024

On the evening of 23 November 2024, the Grand Hyatt Taipei became the heart of Scottish celebration as the highly anticipated St. Andrew’s Ball 2024 unfolded. Hosted by the British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei, this beloved annual tradition brought together 300 guests for an evening brimming with music, dancing, and warm camaraderie.

The evening began with the stirring sound of traditional bagpipes, welcoming elegantly dressed attendees adorned in tartan accents. The highlight of the culinary experience followed shortly, as the ceremonial haggis procession made its way through the ballroom, accompanied by a lively address to the haggis. This quintessential Scottish dish delighted guests, offering a true taste of the evening’s cultural theme.

Another unforgettable moment was the ceilidh dancing, where professional instructors led attendees through spirited Scottish reels and jigs. The dance floor came alive with laughter, energy, and shared joy, capturing the heart of Scotland’s cultural traditions and creating lasting memories.

As the final notes of the evening played and the night drew to a close, the St. Andrew’s Ball proved to be more than just an event—it was a celebration of culture, connection, and tradition. We look forward to welcoming you next year for another evening filled with Scottish charm and hospitality. Slàinte mhath!
