BCCT BBA | Taiwanese talent are leaders in Responsible Business

Sept 25, 2018 – The second annual Better Business Awards were presented in three categories that demonstrate responsible business; Corporate Social Responsibility, Diversity and Social Enterprise. The awards are open to all Taiwan based companies and the programmes had to demonstrate impact in Taiwan.

Steven Parker, Executive Director of the British Chamber of Commerce, explains “Taiwanese are great business people and great global citizens. Taiwanese talent clearly values not only the business they do but the impact that business has on their world. This is a value shared with the UK and one of the reasons we are proud to run these awards.”

The Social Enterprise award went to OurCityLove for their innovative accessibility programme. The Corporate Social Responsibility award was presented to L’Oreal for their For Women in Science Initiative. Eiger was awarded the Diversity award for their best practices. The awards will expand next year to showcase Taiwan’s achievements in Leadership, Sustainability, Women in Science, and potentially others.

The ceremony was opened by the UK Minister for Trade Policy at Department for International Trade, George Hollingbery in recognition of British and Taiwanese companies carrying out Responsible Business in Taiwan in CSR, Diversity and Social Enterprise.

Taiwanese Legislator Karen Yu spoke about Taiwan’s role in the global development of Social Enterprise and Caroline Margaret Elliot from the British Council shared UK best practices on diversity.
