The BCCT 14th Annual Christmas Charity Auction & Luncheon

On Friday December 13th over 100 people from the local and international community attended the 14th British Chamber of Commerce in Taipei Annual Christmas Charity Auction and Luncheon. This year’s event was held at the Shangri-La Far Eastern Hotel. Guests were treated to a performance by the Salvation Army Brass Band and a special visit from Father Christmas, as well as a traditional Christmas lunch with turkey and all the trimmings. Guests had the opportunity to bid on a wide range of fantastic items including a Take-Home Chef, the use of an Audi RS6 Car for the week and a holiday in the Maldives plus much more.

Over NTD$750,000 has been collected so far this year by the BCCT as part of its charity fund raising efforts. This figure is expected to increase following the second look online auction which will take place between Dec 15th-Dec 21st 2010. The funds raised will be used to support a range of relief and rehabilitation services facilitated by the Salvation Army to help homeless people in Taipei including meals, shower and changing facilities, clothing, referral to health and welfare services as well as basic life skills and employment schemes. In addition the Chamber will continue to support to Children’s SOS Village based in Taoyuan which provides care and support for abused as well as emotionally troubled children and young people.

In addition special thanks goes to Steven Parker, Director of the Community Services Center and Terry Engel, DJ, ICRT for giving up their free time to act as MC and auctioneers for the day.
