Taiwan announces extended visa-free treatment for U.K. visitors

It has been announced that from 10 March 2009 Taiwan's immigration authorities will extend visa-free stays for UK passport holders from the current 30 days to 90 days. The initial 90-day stay can then be extended for a further 90 days once UK travellers have entered Taiwan. This is the most favourable level of visa-free treatment provided to any visitor to Taiwan.

According to latest figures from the Tourism Bureau in Taipei, 76,549 British nationals visited Taiwan in 2008, an increase of 9.89% compared to 2007.
