The BCCT is honoured to host this special breakfast meeting, inviting Mr John Gray, Director, Patents, Murgitroyd & Company to speak about the European Patent system and how new European Patent Office rules will soon impact the preparation and handling of patent applications from Taiwan and elsewhere. If time permits, Mr Gray will look ahead to the proposed EU patent regime and the implications that they will have for business both in Taiwan and across Europe. Attendance at this breakfast meeting is a must for anyone having to deal with IP and patent applications, as well as companies who have IP that they wish to register.
About the speaker
John Gray joined Murgitroyd as Director, Patents in 2006, having trained and worked as a patent attorney in industry and private practice for twenty years. He has a BSc (1st Hons) Electronics and Physics from the University of Edinburgh and is a Member of the Institute of Physics, Chartered Patent Attorney (UK), European Patent Attorney and European Trade Mark and Design Attorney, and a member of the Licensing Executives Society and a substitute member of the EPI Council (the institute of European Patent Attorneys).
Mr Gray works to secure and evaluate intellectual property for a wide range of clients, from Europe, USA and Asia. His technical experience in electronic and computer-related inventions includes digital and mixed signal circuits for consumer electronics; telecoms instrumentation; medical electronics; power switching and control. In physics & mechanical engineering, he works currently on a range of technologies from cutting-edge microlithography to railway and subsea construction. He is interested also in IP portfolio management and licensing.
