BCCT Christmas Fundraising Auction and Luncheon

On Friday December 11th over 80 people turned out in support of this year’s British Chamber Christmas Fundraising Auction and Luncheon. This is the 13th year running that the Chamber has held such an event. The proceeds from the auction are being used to support the SOS Children’s Village in Taoyuan, which cares for orphans, abused and emotionally troubled young people as well as to support the San Min School in Kaohsiung which was destroyed by floodwater and landslides during typhoon Morakot.

There was plenty of Christmas cheer to go round, with many people having dressed up for the occasion including two tables of ‘Santresses’ and a table of the ‘Blues Brothers’. As the guests began arriving for the gourmet Christmas meal, luncheon raffle tickets and balloons were bought and the bidding started in the silent auction. Everyone was treated to sparkling wine and eggnog.

During lunch Maria Chen, Director of SOS Children’s Village and Dr Allan Weston, CEO Taipei European School, on behalf of San Min Junior High School gave a short address to the attendees about the charities and reminded people what the money was being raised for.

Soon after the speeches the live auction got going with Master of Ceremonies for the day ICRT personality, Emily David and Steven Parker, Director Community Services Centre encouraging people to dig deep in their pockets and keep raising the bids. Santa Senior and Santa Junior were also on hand so that guests could get there photos taken and receive a special gift from Santa.
