About the SOS Children’s Village:
This year, the SOS Children’s Village of Taiwan in Taoyuan is the
designated recipient. As some of you may know we supported this charity
last year, and our donation was used for much needed repairs to the
roofs and floors of five housing units. This year the priority areas
include urgent ceiling repairs & fire-proofing to a class-room area and
kitchen repairs, as well as standard food, schooling and related
expenses.
The SOS Children’s Village was established in 1970 and took in orphans
and abandoned babies. In 1991, in keeping with the changing needs of
society, its focus moved to taking care of abused as well as emotionally
troubled young people. The Chamber endorses the charity’s work, namely
its commitment to promoting the healthy development of these young
people’s physical, emotional and spiritual state, and providing them
with the foundations necessary to grow to become responsible, positive
adults able to contribute to society.
About the British Chamber of Commerce’s Community Involvement
One of the British Chamber’s key beliefs is that an organisation is a
member of the society in which it operates, and as such it follows that
one of its duties is to work in different ways to improve the quality of
life of people in that society.
In addition to its work in Taiwan’s business and social arenas, the
British Chamber is also very active in the broader community through its
charity work. Every year the British Chamber donates the net profits
from its Christmas Charity Luncheon & Auction to a community-based
charity that has a proven track record of making a real difference. Over
the years the British Chamber of Commerce has raised in excess of NT$5
million for various charitable causes.
Please join us for what is always a fun, festive and warm celebration
while also giving to a very worthwhile cause.
To assist us to appropriately plan for this
event we urge you to register in advance.
