Topic:
Stakeholder Relationship Management & Measurement
Over the past decade Stakeholder Relationship Management has become a
major element in business strategy as senior management increasingly
recognise that those organisations with the best relationships with
their stakeholders – that is the groups with an interest or a stake in
the company – have the best opportunity to differentiate themselves in
the market place and build sustainable competitive advantage.
Of course, each company has relationships with many different groups of
stakeholders: internal relationships with employees and relationships
between employees and their superiors; and external relationships with
customers, distributors, suppliers, investors, the media and the general
public.
In seeking to manage these relationships, the first step is to measure
them, to determine where the company is doing well and where it not
doing so well. This knowledge base forms the platform for deciding
future strategy.
TNS are the global leaders in the measurement of stakeholder
relationships, using our proprietary TRI*MTM approach. We have recently
completed a survey in Taiwan of 500 individuals islandwide, employees of
different ages and in different types or employment. The objective of
the survey was to investigate employee attitudes to their employers and
to identify what aspects of their jobs they are satisfied with and what
areas they feel their companies are not so good at. The results show
that it is not just about pay and benefits. There are some interesting
learnings about how companies could and should do more to improve their
relationships with their staff and ultimately reduce levels of staff
turnover.
